Hilarious School Answering Machine

This is the message that the Maroochydore High School, Queensland, Australia, staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.

This is the actual answering machine message for the school.

This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children’s absences and missing homework.

The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children’s failing grades changed to passing grades – even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes

Glad to see the education system is broken in other places besides america. Truth is though… the school wants to essentially own the kids from age 5 or 6, it pulls the responsibility away from the parents. State run education is a total crock in my opinion. Get the state out of it – then private schools would spring up and be VERY competitive in price, taxes would go down so people could afford these now reasonable prices. It’s so broken :( Maybe i’ll home school my bun in the oven ;)

Civil and wise adults fighting back in an increasingly youth oriented and too-busy-to-care-about-core-values times. Everyone is under too much stress and pressure these days. Many of our entertainment heroes are actually the nerdy characters who step out of the madness around them and remind us that there is a saner an simpler way.

If every effort has already been made to make the point that chaos reigns at this school, then I support this stand and cheer for its ironic humor! Let parents try home schooling for awhile and see if they are more willing then to work with teachers and administrators.

School systems are sometimes enormous problems in and of themselves, but we are ALL human and need to listen to and work with one another.

Loved the ironic humor! Parents should try home schooling and then see if they want to revisit dealing with real human beings trying to educate the masses.

Very creative, but still I don’t think this will solve the problem.

Only in Queensland could they expect to get away with that. They are about 10 years behind the rest of the country!

    Hi Dean,

Is it just me or are some commenters taking this a bit too seriously!! And I thought us Brits were supposed to be stuffy?!!!

Thanks for giving me the best laugh I have had in weeks. Awesome.

On a serious note – fair play to the school as they are not allowed to fart without being sued these days. What happened to the days when once you dropped the kids off at school they were under the jurisdiction of the school without interference from the parents – huh!!

I am sure Lee McIntyre could tell us a few stories eh?

    Have a great weekend mate

Well I laughed because I’m far too slow to understand all that political stuff…

But personal responsibility is the new cool.
