Creating Your First Website – Destroying the Get Rich Quick Mentality

Share

I got an email this morning from a guy called Ed. Ed had a few questions, but generally he was considering creating a website, and wanted some tips.

So, if you are familiar with the net, but have never created your own website, you may be happy to know that I am going to create a series of posts designed to assist you with your first website.

Today I am going to start with your mentality, I appreciate you may be itching to get started on creating an actual website, but trust me, if your attitude is not right, you WILL fail!

I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news… it IS possible to make a lot of money online with little to no effort.

Before you start jumping up and down, I have some bad news for you… to get to the point where you are making 5 figures+ with little to no effort…. will require a LOT of effort.

So it is a bit of a catch22, easy money does exist online, but it takes a lot of time and effort to get there.

I want you to imagine a large business in New York, imagine a ladder with the lowest employees at the bottom and the highest at the top.

Let’s start with the cleaner… he/she probably makes minimum wage, but probably does the most hard work in the entire company. Low money, but a LOT of work.

Then, in the middle of the company ladder you may have assistant managers, these people will do quite a lot of hard work, but will get quite a lot of money.

Then, at the top we have the CEO, according to research, the average CEO for the top 100 businesses in America does an average of 16 minutes of productive work per day. 16 minutes! Yet they get paid a small fortune.

Do you see how the ladder system works?

Well, unless you are exceptionally talented, have money to invest, or are very well connected, the Internet is no different. You will need to start near the bottom and work your way up.

I can show you techniques that will help you climb the ladder faster than the average webmaster, but look inside yourself, if you have read this article and are no longer interested in creating a website, then you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, and it is probably best if you don’t read any of my future posts.
