Auld Lang Syne

Tonight is the night, New Years Eve.

This night reminds me of alcohol, friends and family, but there is one thing that I always think of when I think of New Years Eve….. auld lang syne

In the UK whenever we went to a pub or club for New Years Eye you could 100% guarantee that at 12 o’clock they would play this song and everyone would have a little hug, jump up and down and hum the lyrics.

That’s right, HUM the lyrics.

I am yet to meet anyone who actually knows the lyrics to this song. So if you are going out with friends or family tonight then send them this page.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes
And pou’d the gowans fine.
We’ve wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin’ auld lang syne.

We twa hae sported i’ the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin’ auld lang syne.

And ther’s a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine;
We’ll tak’ a right good willie-waught,,
For auld lang syne.

Have a happy new year and I will see you in 2007.
