Rules For Creating a Website

There are currently so many different types of websites, templates, systems and languages that building a successful website can often be much more confusing that it needs to be.

So I have created a list of my top rules for creating a useful and successful website. Enjoy! ;)

RULE 1: DON’T BE AFRAID OF ASKING FOR HELP FROM THE EXPERTS. Use sites like scriptlance.com and elance.com to find experts who can create a quality website even on a low budget.

RULE 2: KEEP IT SIMPLE! Always make your site is as clean and simple as possible, do not confuse your visitors with complex graphics or too many adverts.

RULE 3: PUT THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE HOMEPAGE: all the main information for your site should be either on your main page or one click away. Don’t expect your visitors to be able to find information that is hard to reach.

RULE 4: USE A SIMPLE NAVIGATION PATH. Your vistors should be able to visit all of your pages with ease.

RULE 5: IF SOMETHING IS NOT WORTH SAYING THEN DON’T SAY IT! too many people are writing for the search engines. Instead of putting lots of confusing keyword texts in your site, try writing for the visitor instead. Confusing and complex information is a big turn off.

RULE 6: GIVE SOMETHING FOR FREE. Giving free gifts, competition prizes or free subscriptions can be a very useful way of getting visitors to return.
