Root Canal?

A few days ago I started getting a large toothache. I booked to see the dentist on Monday, but woke up today to find that my gums behind my teeth are starting to swell.

A little research on Google found people who have had the same problem, in all cases the person had to have a root canal. :-(

I presumed that I would either need a filling, the tooth taken out, or a root canal. It is fair to say that the latter was the one I was least looking forward to.

I am not too bad with dentists, but now I am really not looking forward to going on Monday.

So I need you all to leave a comment on this article and please start your comment with “Don’t worry Dean, a root canal is completely painless” ;-)

Wish me luck.

Worst case senario is that you’ve lost a tooth.
Best case is that you get that free toothbrush :D

I’ve still got my wisdom teeth and they’re starting to drive me insane so I guess it’s only a matter of time till we’re both in the same boat.

as long as you are not the one actually GETTING the root canal ;). Just kidding! You will have plenty of “happy medicine” and won’t even know a thing.

PS. Do you watch Seinfeld? There was an episode where Jerry had to go to the dentist that was really funny!

Jesse - Thanks for the kind words. I use an electric toothbrush now, so I doubt I will get a free one. A lollipop would be nice though.

    Philbert - painless sounds good.

cctech - I would like a lot of happy medicine. I imagine that when I come out of the dentists I will be like Ozzy Osbourne. I don’t really watch Seinfeld though, I prefer Curb Your Entusiasm.

    BD - Many thanks :-)

Stu - In the end it turns out that it was my wisdom teeth that were causing the problems. I had them out last Thursday (Still swollen). :-(

    Thanks for the comments.

argh im scared of dentists,i had two overlapping teeth and one had decayed… but becuase im so worried about going i left it till the pain was literally unbareable and i was nearly passing out due to it. i had to have a root canal and i wouldnt let them remove the tooth without knocking me out first, and a root canal is an experience i never want to repeat again! my teeth are playing up again though so not keeping my hopes up! anyways, hope your teeth get better!

for anyone who is getting a root canal, let me just say that it is painless…I had one today and i came out fine…the worst part was having my mouth open a little for about an hour..its a lot LESS painful than you think!
