Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I'm thinking about creating my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? With thanks
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Hi Dean,

Kudos for making the move. I'm in the process of working my first VA with a company here in Chicago. They outsource to the Phillipines.

We're in the process of setting up job descriptions, looking at writing samples, and timelines/schedules. They're all college grads, FBI level background check, and are all "worker bee" types. No entrepreneur types.

A couple years ago I took the Kolbe A Index test (http://www.kolbe.com/), which tests how you actually "do" things. It told me I was 8 out of 10 in Quick Start. This means I can start 18 projects at once, I thrive in chaos, and I love to work with my hair on fire. Anyway, I'm sharing because they give you tips and strategies on how to staff around your strengths and weaknesses.

They told me I need someone who has a high rate of follow thru. No shit, Sherlock. Did you figure that out all by yourself?

Cheers!

Jeremy

Hi Dean,

This is a good post,

however when I personally tried to hire outsourcers. I spend time in the selection process on Elance or Odesk ( I prefer Odesk). Then I find that I get the best result if I take the time to really interview the people and give them either a task to do or asking them specific questions.

Most of the time they cannot respond well but they are very willing to learn.

My suggestion here is to hire someone either on a part time or full time basis instead of having small job done.

Here is how I do it.

step 1 : make a list of all activities you currently

do and the ones needed to bring your business

to the next level, even the one you don't

         know how to do
Step 2 : select the ones you want to outsource

Step 3 : find training material for all tasks,
         video works best
pdf second. (use Youtube for freebie HOW-to's)
         record your own training videos
Step 4 : Organize work load. You should have a 3 months
outline (long Term) and a weekly schedule
Consider the first month a training month for
         both you and the outsourcee

TIPS : Your chosen person should communicate well speak
and write as ideally will report to you daily
be prapared to review their work and teach them
how to improve it. Learn the country working
custom and ask someone for a contract template
consider using ODESK working room, which provide
screen shot of the outsourcee pc during the day.
Learn to communicate with skype, share screen
       funcionality

for more tips feel free to contact me
