This is a rant, a complaint, a pet peeve, an irritation.

I just had to get this off my chest, so thanks in advance for being my shoulder to cry on.

Here is the thing… when people sell websites, promote their SEO services, promote their sites etc… they always say something like this:

“I rank top 10 for the term xxxxxxxx from 20 million results.”

Ok, let’s clear this up once and for all, let me put an end to one of the biggest misconceptions on the entire Internet…

THE AMOUNT OF RESULTS IN GOOGLE HAS ZERO EFFECT ON THE AMOUNT OF SEARCHES!

Does that make sense?

Let’s do an example to prove my point: iPhone Microsoft Free Online

This Google search is just a string of random words that I used. They make no sense, and I can guarantee that this search term is NEVER used.

However, Google shows 48,800,000 results (48 million+)

Do you see what I mean?

The amount of results has ZERO impact on the amount of hits you will get. If anyone uses Google results as an example, then you know they don’t know what they are doing. Simply avoid eye contact with them, walk slowly, and block them from your IM.
