How to Dominate a Niche in Google

Today I am going to share with you a little exploit I used as an experiment to show how easy it is to dominate a niche in Google.
The niche Google search I used for this experiment was “Buzz Marketing Guru”.
Many people say this is dominating a niche, I like to think of it as clogging a niche.
What I do is make sure my site is somehow mentioned in the first 3 results in Google.
The first 3 positions in Google gain over 80% of all the searches, so if you grab the first 3 spots, then you have heavily dominated the niche for that key phrase.
But there is a problem… how do you get 3 places when you only have one site?
Simple! You use other authority sites.
Have a look at this image: buzz marketing in google.
You will see that for the term “buzz marketing guru” I have dominated all the first 3 positions in Google.
1st position is a fake advert I created in Craigslist
2nd is a guest post I did at Fadtastic
3rd is DeanHunt.com (previously 1st)
If anyone searches for “buzz marketing guru” now (yes, people DO search for it), then they will find out about me.
WHY?
Well, the craigslist advert gives an email address: job-405780850@craigslist.org
Guess where that directs to? Yes, you guessed it, it goes directly to me.
What about the position 2?
Well, that article states quite clearly that the article was written by Dean Hunt, my profile links here, and at the bottom of the article is a profile that links to all the blogs I post at.
Position 3 = this blog
So I have dominated Google now.
For the record, positions 4 and 5 are occupied by buzzoodle… I did a guest post there as well.
If I wanted to dominate the entire top 10 (I have done this previously), I would create a fake eBay listing, a Digg article, a Stumbleupon article, I would litter my Reddit profile page with the keyword, I would create a Squidoo page, an Amazon review, and any other authority sites I could get my hands on.
This is a great way to build authority, and to dominate a niche so badly that your competitors will run for cover.
Warning: this obviously won’t work with popular keywords, but for smaller phrases it works a treat.
Enjoy.
