How Dumb Are You?

Today I would like to discover how dumb you are.

Below are four questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can’t take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK?

Let’s find out just how clever you really are….

First Question:

You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you now in?

Answer Below…

Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are
Absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person, you take his place, so you are second!

Try not to screw up next time.

Now answer the second question, but don’t take as much time as you took for the first one, OK?

Second Question:

If you overtake the last person, then you are…?

Answer Below…

Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?

Third Question:

Note: This must be done in your head only.
Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it.. Now add another 1000. Now add 30.
Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000
Now add 10. What is the total?

Answer: Did you get 5000?

The correct answer is actually 4100.

Fourth Question:

Mary’s father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3, Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?

Her name is Mary. Read the question again!

Okay, now the bonus round:

A mute person goes into a shop and wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing his teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Next, into the shop comes a blind man who wants to buy a pair of sunglasses; how does he indicate what he wants?

    Man I am so DUMB! ;) Loved it. Very painful to move from one question to the next as I got steadily dumber and dumber (no I didn’t get ALL the questions wrong, but it sure felt like it) But I could not stop reading . . . objective achieved for this post.

    If you overtake the last person in a circular field, then you were and still are the first person. I guess you are also a little(not that much) dumb ;)

I hate going to bed dumber than when I started so I’m going to have to stay up a little later just to redeem myself and learn something.     i came up with your answer but also thought of the answer of being first on an oval track (if you overtake the last guy in the race), which someone above alluded to also

    A blind person will have a sunglasses to disimulate that he is blind or he can “feel” better, I am not experienced blind but I think so :P

    Actually, if you over take the last person, you are not necessarily the first person. Just one of many that may have lapped the last person.

    I got 1.5 wrong.
    The first question…
    I knew I would not be in 1st place because that depends on how many were in the race.

    The addition question I got wrong. So I went back and added it up again in my mind and got the right answer. I just wasn’t thinking.

    It pays to double check the question and the answer. :` :! 8)

    With first question the answer I would give is it depends..

    You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you now in?

    First of all it doesn’t specify that you only overtake the second person so you may also have overtaken the first person also.

    Secondly it doesn’t say the second person at that stage of the race so it could refer to the position they were in at the start of the race.

    Ok I admit it - I got it wrong - I’m dumb dumb dumb :)

    I got 2 and a half right (1st, 3rd and 5th). I say 2 and a half ‘cos I was thinking: ‘why doesn’t the blind guy just ask?’ But then you said ‘indicate’ and I was thinking: ’so he has to gesture, then’.

    Wow I’m dumb. I loved the mary daughter one, and the blind man one. but the race one’s verbage could be confusing and easily misinterpreted though. and the math question, I think doing that kind of math in your head fast is hard!
