Google Update & Damn PC Problems

Sorry for not updating for a few days. I bought a new pc and have been having problems with it. At first it kept resetting itself for no reason, when I re-installed everything the problem was solved, but when I tried a game it ran in slow motion. Not choppy or a slow framerate, just slow motion.

So a new set of drivers later and the slow motion problem had been fixed….. however, now it was going in fast forward. It would run ok for a few seconds and then shoot into fast forward for a couple of seconds, thus making the games unplayable.

I am considering returning the pc on Monday morning, hence posting an update so that you know I am still alive.

I also had a shocking nights sleep on Thursday night that I have still not fully recovered from….. Thursday afternoon was a day of pc stress and the first big fxxk up from the Spanish builders (They put the wrong tiles in the guest bathroom), so both myself and the missus were not having the best of days. By the time I had finished messing with the damn pc it was nearly 4am and I found that I couldn’t sleep due to Elenas brother having his radio on high volume. Is it normal for a 25 year old to still use music to help him sleep? maybe I am just your typical northerner, but where I am from that sort of thing is seen as a bit soft.

Anyway, finally got to sleep and we went for our usual meal at the Argentinian restaurant in Madrid with Elena and her uncle. It was a good afternoon and will be the last one we have for six weeks. :(

Although I was very tired on Friday I soon churped up when I checked my affiliate sales for the day. It was by far the best day of earnings I have ever had and if I can have a day like that per week then I will be very happy.

I am actually considering selling the site in question in the near future, it gets around 1500 unique visitors per day, is PR5 and is starting to do fairly well in earnings. I think that if someone has the time to put into the site then it could be taken to the next level of earnings. I would say that it is currently on the fringes of breaking into the category of big site in the gambling industry. With just one more push it will certainly be in that category. I will be looking for at least 18k (pounds) for the site (and it comes with another site as well), so stay tuned and I will give more details in the coming months.

Google Update

Whilst the rest of you are on your bank holidays, I am keeping my finger on the google pulse. There is currently a backlink update underway (you heard it here first) and you can currently see the changes on these two datacentres: http://64.233.187.104/ & http://64.233.187.99

You probably all know that Google only shows a small % of your backlinks. But there is one very interesting development in this update… in the new results Google currently ONLY shows your one way backlinks.

This may only sound like a small change, but you can use this new info to help find one way backlinks for your site. Simply go to google on the new datacentres and use the link: command with the url of your competitors domain. This will then show you a decent % of the one way links that site has obtained. The next step is to filter through the spam sites, scraper sites, sites within that owners network of sites etc… and analyze what remains. Try and find out WHY these sites have linked to your competitor, would they also be willing to link to you as well? could you create a good reason for them to link to you?

If you don’t ask you don’t get, so have a play with this new source of info and start working on your one way links.
