Change of direction and Diets
In Off-Topic | no comments yet | permalink
You may have noticed that the title of this blog has changed to “Deano’s World – Internet, Marketing, Madrid, Life, Humour & More.”
Initially this blog was setup so that I could share my knowledge about running web sites, marketing, SEO etc…. but as time has progressed I have noticed that I have done a lot of off-topic articles.
I tend to spend a lot of time looking at numerous sites and forums, and this blog has become my outlet to give my opinion on stories or information that interest me. I don’t fancy creating one blog for the off-topic stuff and one for my marketing, so I have now changed the title of this blog and thus you can expect to hear about the following topics in the coming months:
Madrid (I am from north west England, but moved to Madrid two years ago. There are many challenges here and I will try and share my stories with you)
Elena (She is the reason I moved to Madrid! I met her on a lads holiday 4 years ago and she spent a couple of years living in England with me, so now it’s my turn to spend some time in her country)
Marketing, SEO, Affiliate marketing, etc.. (I make my living from the Internet. I will try and keep you up to date with the latest from the industry and will share my tips and resources with you)
Humour and life in general (I am always reading forums and sites like Digg.com – If anything interests me then I will share it with you)
Our House (I have lived in six houses in my 24 years on this humble abode we call earth. Myself and Elena have paid to have a new house built in Madrid. It should be ready this December and we are very excited. See our photos and see if the stereotype of Spanish builders is really true.)
ok, so now you know what to expect in the future. I appreciate you reading this blog and thanks in advance for linking to my blog from your main page
DIETS
I am 6ft 3″ and am so thin that I can dodge the drops of water when I am in the shower. Therefore I have never had the need to go on a diet and am unlikely to need to do so in the near future.
However, I do know people who have tried dieting and it is something that interests me. According to recent cough… er… research 30% of the UK will be obese by 2010. Which is a strange coincidence because the average American weighs 2010 pounds by the time they are 30 years old (Just joking, don’t sue me).
So it is clear that dieting and eating healthy is going to become more and more important over the coming years.
To make matters worse it seems like every year there is something that was considered healthy but is now under attack. The Atkins diet told people not to eat carbs. Who would have thought that Baked potato, Gatorade, Bread, whole wheat, Bagel, Shredded wheat, Spaghetti, Rice, Raisin bran, Oatmeal, Green pea soup etc would cause you to gain weight?
Recently there was also research that suggested that the governments advice of eating fish 3 times per week may also not be good for you at all.
I also seem to recall reading many years ago that diet coke is actually worse for your health that normal coke.
Disclaimer: I don’t have the source of this info, but if you continue to read my blog then you will realise that doing research and giving sources is not my cup of tea. I didn’t get to win the European cup on 6 star difficulty on Pro Evolution Soccer 5 by spending my days looking for sources
So feel free to google anything that you believe to be false and let me know what you find.
Anyway, from what I can recall Diet coke has little or no sugar, but the re-create to sweet taste they use artificial ingredients that are actually worse than the sugar itself.
This morning I was looking through some medical sites* (*Possible lie) and I stumbled upon a new set of research that has proven that the salads in fast food restaurants are generally worse for your health than the Big Mac meals.
This time I will provide a source: Source of salad research
What is next? by 2008 will water be considered fattening? what about fruit? Vegetables?
I can’t even to begin to understand how hard it must be to lose a lot of weight, but what chance do people have if salads, bread and diet coke are going to cause you to GAIN weight?
Rant over.
