A Super Sneaky Way To Get One-Way Backlinks For Free From Authority Websites
We all like backlinks, especially one-way, free links… so today I am going to show you a great way to do it.
I personally call this technique the ‘Testimonial Exploit’, but it is actually a white-hat method of link building.
What you need to do it make a note of all the services, products, blogs, and tools you have used in the past 12 months, then simply contact them with an email like this:
“Dear Mr X,
My name is Dean and I recently used your fantastic lubricant. I don’t normally do this, but I was so impressed by your product that I have written a testimonial below.
You are more than welcome to publish it on your site.
Kinky X lubricant had me greased up like a turkey on Christmas day. I will definitely use it again, as soon as I get the carpet burns out of my knees blah blah blah….”
***TIP*** here is the important part…. Dean Hunt - www.deanhunt.com
Make sure that you include your name and web address.
I get regular daily traffic from this, but please note that I ONLY give testimonials to the absolute best services I use, and I ensure that they are completely honest.
That said, if you wanted to exploit this and just send testimonials to every service you use, who am I to judge you?…. sick bastards!
Enjoy.
Dean

Do You Feel the Buzz?
Dean Hunt puts the "buzz" in buzz marketing
..and the "viral" in viral diseases
Slippery technique.
I like it!

Honestly, Lubricated fences?
Electric fences with grease not enough any more these days (refers to local fastfood places near the playgrounds)
awesome Idea! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before.
Matt,
Quite simply, because you are not Dean Hunt and I am!!!
Just kidding, enjoy.
Dean
That’s a cool idea…
*goes off to write a testimonial for Google, Facebook, and YouTube*
Excellent idea !!!
good post
Something I have thought about doing quite often, gonna start tomorrow
Thanks for the reminder Dean
Hey Dean,
As always, great stuff.
Someone told me the other day that I had a PR2 on my
blog (my hobby blog, at that).
This blog gets almost no traffic, so I was baffled.
However, my name does appear (along with my site) on
some testimonials. Probably explains the PR2.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Best,
Scott
Dean,
Great strategy, thanks for that. That was funny to read too. Also do you always get a “live” link or they just put the link in text format, not clickable like : http://www.deanhunt.com, and then there is no value in seo terms ?
Of course I guess if your name appears that contributes to the viral effect.
At least, you’re now on first page of Google for Kinky X lubricant, hum…
Thanks,
Tom
Tom, In my experience I have had live links, but I wouldn’t expect it all of the time.

Hi Dean
those spiders get every were and they find
every link in time, no matter how small
Thanks again Paul

Sneaky tactic and great humour!
Dear Mr Hunt, I am afraid that I do not like your Lubricant. I tried it on my brand new ThinkPad X300 laptop and it got so slippery it fell OFF my lap and broke!
My wife said that wasn’t the way to use it, and that I shouldn’t play with my laptop naked anyway! I will write up the full story on my blog! (With pictures?)

this is one of the best strategies i have heard on link building… i applaud you for taking common techniques in link building, changing your mindset, and applying it in a very different way… a brilliant way to increase your PR and web traffic…. the world needs more exponential thinkers like you! :))
Thats definitely creative.
Another sneaky (but un-ethical) trick I just read about is to find a good page and check its backlinks. You find an old backlink from another site, then email them saying “Hi, I linked to your site awhile back (send them url of other site), I was wondering if you would help me out with a new site I am starting with a link”
If they are semi-naive, or arent paying attention, they will think that the good link is yours.
wooooppsss… i navigated away from your site and realised i just applied what you taught me hahahahh… anyways thanks for the tip
Funny story as always and another great tip - Thanks!
Even if the link isn’t live, people can still see it and visit your site. I know I’ve copied URL’s like that plenty of times. Besides, it may or may not provide any link juice, but Google sees them. My Google Alerts pick up linked and unlinked URL’s all the time.
there must be better ways
